Oh, my heart. Broken, mended a bit, broken again, mended again.
Also went down a small Internet hole researching NYC's cruel housing practices. What in the actual F.

I cannot resist a book where the main character is a cat.

I highly recommend this book to cat lovers (or really anyone who has ever owned a cat). Prudence was a wonderful narrator, hysterical and surprisingly human. Overall, a surprisingly good read about the nature of human relationships.

Gosh, I hate to give Gwen Cooper and this book only 3/5 stars but I think I have to. Without adding spoilers.... I think that every book should balance good/bad, happy/sad, struggle/joy- I know most books can't just be all happy. BUT, while I loved some characters, I just felt like overall this book was out of balance for me. It was so overwhelmingly sad and heart wrenching, I had a hard time recovering for the uplifting parts and that put a damper on the overall experience for me. That said, I still would recommend this book to anyone... but maybe Homer's Odyssey is a better first read from Gwen Cooper. I do greatly appreciate the messages about the importance of pet rescue and pet family members, and I gladly support this author and her efforts.

Let’s just say....I went out and found my forever cat after reading this book. I can only pray my Zoey loves me the way this cat loves her people!

A great book for cat people and those who enjoy a good story about love and loss. Towards the end the book had me in tears, which few books have ever done. I was completely invested in the characters and their story. And who doesn't love a cat protagonist - such a neat idea!

A cozy story about a cat, told from the perspective of a cat. It's wonderful, it made me cry, cat lovers who read should definitely check this out.

I picked this book up at the dollar store thinking it sounded cute even though the title is silly. I fell in love with Prudence from the beginning. Though I first I didn’t care for the POV change and thought it boring for a time, the different POVs was important to the telling of the very heartfelt and heartwarming story. I think it’s a good story no matter what, but I don’t think it would mean as much to someone who hasn’t owned and loved a cat. Thinking of my own cat and our lives while reading this book, and the words of the author, made me cry so many times. I thought this book would be ridiculous and lame but ultimately I found it to be great.

I haven't read Homer's Odyssey, but this book was amazing. It's so much more than a beautiful story about cat-love, on which it most certainly delivers. I never knew about the particular horrendous act sanctioned by Giuliani that drives the story, but I'm not surprised. This is also a wonderful story about mother-daughter relationships, and how growing up without money influences all your decisions about the rest of your life. I'm adding this one to my favorites.
