From the sky to the stratosphere and finally to the heights of space itself, this immensely satisfying conclusion to the Airborn trilogy did the whole series justice.

Matt Cruse, now commander of his own small cargo airship, thinks his life is running along fine. But all at once, everything seems to go wrong. A group of terrorists attack one of France's greatest projects; a huge tower to the stars. One of Matt's own crewmen turns traitor on him. And his girlfriend, the bright and lovely heiress, Kate, is being pressured to marry by her parents.

The only salvation comes when Matt is chosen as part of another special mission; a secret Canadian operation that has built an elevator into space called the Starclimber. Navigating a difficult astronaut training regimen and making new friends, Matt is thrilled at the chance to go higher than ever before.

Adventure, conflict, strange creatures, romance, and humor can all be found in this final, epic journey into the sky. And I was thouroughly satisfied, but still sad, when I left Matt and Kate at last.

I'm sure that Oppel's science holds up but with his style and themes, it doesn't really have to. Matt and Kate are given the opportunity to go higher than they've (or anyone else of their time period) flown: outer space. Past characters from the first two installments show up. Oppel has a unique writing style for this series. Very well-done and preteen and teenage boys will love it.

This is by far my favourite book in this series. It ends the story perfectly and makes the reader want to read more about these memorable charactrs. This book also shows a depth in charactr development. Matt seems more sensative and humble while Kate seems to realize where her priorities lie. Overall a GREAT read and I would recomend this book to anyone!

Matt Cruse in Outer Space (obviously): the logical successor to Airborn and Skybreaker because if he keeps going higher, where's he going to end up? My inner middle-schooler really enjoyed it though not as much as the first two. Physics by necessity plays a larger role in this book than its predecessors, and, while not error-free, still holds up way better than most sci-fi movies. Audiobook features multiple narrators with the same main ones from Skybreaker.

This is one of the most perfect trilogies I have ever read. Each book builds off the other, but they are still stand alone books. Each one is unique and allows you to see more of the world that Oppel has created. The race to space has started and Matt has been invited to be one of the first people in space. He has to try out and hope he doesn’t get cut from the small crew. Kate has been selected, but as she is going as a scientist she doesn’t need to prove her worth for the trip. What she needs though is for her parents to allow her to go, and they want her betrothed to someone who is just as affluent and wealthy as they are. Poor Matt

Space is just as dangerous and strangely alluring as we can imagine, with new creatures, and new people. This book is just as action packed as the other two, my only complaint is that there are only three books in this series.
