This was just so confusing, I had no idea what was going on half the time. Such a shame because the premise was so cool.

I am glad this book was recommended to me since we all need more autistic characters in amazing stories. On the back of the copy I have from the library it has a file under line and one of the topics is "autistic in space" and I really really want to find the magic bookstore down a forgotten ally that has a whole shelf of "autistic in space" books. While my experience has clearly been different from Yasira's (less computer based Gods) I also found many similarities and connections.

An imaginative future where humans have deified technology to the point that it rules them and mandates ludditeism finds a scientist working on her own to create the most powerful machine humanity has made since it made the gods itself. With her mentor missing and struck with the thought that something will go terribly wrong, Yasira Shien fights her doubts and tries to remain holy while relentlessly striving for the truth.

I listened to the audiobook of this while I gardened and the time melted away... a deliciously twisted and rigid future that pushes back against the question Why?
