Ahhh I can't believe it's actually over!!! This was such a satisfying ending, even better than I could have imagined. I love how we got such a beautiful and happy conclusion for every individual character's storyline, especially Mia's, but that it didn't happen instantaneously, and instead took it's time. It's always better that way, at least for me.
Mia really has grown so much over these ten books, making smarter choices and having more self awareness, but never fully leaving her past self behind. She doesn't end up feeling unrecognizable, she's still just Mia.
The romance was absolutely top tier, so much more dramatic and swoonworthy than any of the previous installments. I actually got really emotional over some of the things Michael did, it really reminded me of why I loved him so much to begin with.
However, there were some things that annoyed me a bit, and the reason this book isn't the 5 star rating I initially thought it'd be.
I appreciate acknowledging that Mia did overreact to what happened with Michael and Judith (and even briefly having Michael say that he should have admitted it). What I don't appreciate is how the blame is consistently on Mia's shoulders for the breakup. She had a right to be miffed that Michael kept something like that from her. And Michael laughing at her when she referred to her virginity as "a precious gift" was pretty mean, especially given that Mia's his girlfriend and was trying to be serious about her thoughts. Plus Michael did say something awful to Mia that night, implying that it was sort of Mia's fault that he ended up with Judith, because she didn't immediately know that she loved Michael. That's really shitty. I know he didn't mean it that way, but that's what happened.
Another thing that irks me is the whole Lilly situation. Lilly has been a consistently bad friend to Mia since book one, and only occasionally does something nice. Usually she's very condescending and rude. So forgive me for not being on her side during the whole JP situation (not about what he did to her, he's awful for that, I'm only talking about Lilly and Mia's friendship side). She just assumed that Mia kissed him, and refused to listen when Mia told her that it was an accident. Mia isn't a bad person, and she wouldn't have done something like that, Lilly being her bestie should know this. Instead she's absolutely horrible to Mia, and won't even try to ask the truth of the situation or tell Mia the truth (you can't expect people to just understand what you want when you constantly lie). It's also bullshit for Lilly to fully blame Mia for breaking Michael's heart, they broke each other's hearts. And Mia literally had a full on meltdown and had to go to therapy due to all of that bullshit. But instead of acknowledging Lilly's part in that, we're supposed to be on her side?? Absolutely not.
Despite that, I am glad they made up. And hopefully Lilly will stop being so shitty to Mia.
Overall though I still loved this book and series. It completely captures what it's like to be a tween and teen girl in such a realistic way. And personally it made me delighted to see Mia put people in their place about romance novels. Her mom and some of her friends were really rude and dismissive towards the genre, and Mia told them what for. As a romance fan, I just feel really seen.

After recently watching the Princess Diaries movies again, I was reminded that I never got to buy a copy of Forever Princess in Taiwan, and I never read it!! I was a religious lover of the Princess Diaries series, and re-read the books numerous times. I love Mia and Michael!! And Tina and Lana and Lars and Grandmere. All these characters are like my old friends from a decade ago, middle school me would squeal. And I still love it, albeit a bit frivolous, but still a lot of fun. Will read Royal Wedding next for the ultimate fairy tale ending!

I so love this series. You could already read why in my reviews for the previous books, but I noticed how incredibly invested I was when reading the conclusion to the series. This series is everything. It's funny, light hearted, a little emotional, entertaining, heartbreaking and hearthealing. I already have the bonus book on the shelves and I can't wait to get to it! I mean, I really missed Michael the last few books, so I hope he gets some more pagetime in the really last one!

To go back to my review a few books in this series ago, some series are written periodically, and some are written with a story arc that stretches over thewhole series. Thankfully, the last three books of this series picked up a story arc that included significant character development. Yay for that, yay for a very satisfying end to the series, and yay for the happy ending. And yay that I can move on from princesses now.

Yay! I am done with this series! It is over!
Oh no, don't get me wrong, I did like 1 to 7 (well with the exception of 4), but I don't know book 8 was just WTH happened (sure there was some talk about sex in the previous books, but not so much as in that one, including a few sentences over a showerhead (I will just let people fill in the blanks about that one by themselves)). Book 9 I totally skipped because it was just more infuriating Mia stuff, and book 10 (this one!) was a big struggle to get through. I even did something I normally don't do, which is (when I was at page 158 or something like that) skipping to the last page (in this case page 363) and then read it to the end. And I can tell you, it was like one could just read without a problem. Like this was the natural process for this book. Too bad I still had to crunch through 200~ pages that were left between 158-363 so that I could complete the book.
Really I feel like this book could have done with a whole lot of pages left. As I said, from the point I was at (Mia going to meet Michael again for the first time) to the point where she meets Michael again at around 360 was just one seamless procession. Sure, it felt rushed, but I think it wouldn't have been that bad had the book been that short. At least we wouldn't have to struggle through 200 extra pages of Mia just worrying, being Mia again, princess stuff, some sex talk stuff, Michael OMG Michael stuff, etc..
Also while I did skip book 9, it seems I didn't miss anything but two things.
One being the strange friendship between Lana and Mia all of the sudden. What happened? In book 8 Lana was still the same bleh, mean character, and now in book 10 they are best buddies? WHAT? WHAT WHAT?????
And it seems Mia did something to Genovia (good going girl).
While I am all for Mia x Michael (though I have to say I didn't particularly like Michael in book 8 (see review for that one), I did feel the way everything was concluded between them to be weird and rushed.
I also will have to hide this part.
Mia's novel. Oh.my.Gosh. Really? What was up with that, it felt that instead of a YA novel I was just reading NA at times. Not to mention it was just so badly written.
Tina was, and always will be my favourite character in the whole book. She is just so brilliant, funny, great, a good friend, and sweet.
This book was a true struggle to get through, but I did it! I am happy I finally got through it. Again, the series was good (with the occasional struggle because Mia was quite dumb at times, or overreacted, or acted more like a 5 year old. Not to mention bitchy Lilly), but the last books (8 to 10) were just not that good. :( Which is a shame.
But still, I would recommend this series, just don't read further than 6/7.
As for me, will I be reading the adult book in this series (the Royal Wedding one)? I am not sure, I do know that I probably won't get it for my bookshelves, but instead will opt getting it from Library #3 since that one has the book (magically) in English.

Come on, Mia breaks up with J.P (her boyfriend of 2 years), and just 2 hours after has sex (multiple times from what the diary says) with Michael... Wait, what? It felt really weird. Sure, I was delighted (because yay for pre-book-8-Michael x Mia), but also conflicted. This is not how things work. I know Mia never really cared about J.P (why are you with him for 2 years then?), but this was a bit too much. Then again, it is Mia...I also will have to hide this part.

The whole J.P thing. On the one hand it was a bit too convenient, on the other hand I did like that it was done this way. LOVED IT.
Oh my God. Now that I've read the entire Princess Diaries Series, I can say without a doubt that this is my favorite book of all eleven! This book had me laughing and fangirling HARD, I spent the entire time I was reading it really happy. I felt like Meg Cabot read my mind and wrote absolutely everything I wanted to happen.
Amazing.
