This book is going to have to be bought for my bookshelf collection. I borrowed it from the library, and it had a hold on it so paid a small fortune in library fines to finish it. The book's author is from nearby (to me) Bainbridge Island. He talks about the time spent with his children fishing, foraging and enjoying nature. I've even decided I should take up Oystering and Geoduck hunting since it sounds like a good thing to do with my kids. But don't expect the author to reveal his abundant Oystering or fishing spots. He is mum on that. My mouth waters with some of his concocted meals.

Like most everything Patagonia publishes, this book opens your eyes to the world, its creatures, its crises, and its beauties. The author excels when describing his time with his friends and family, and when setting forth in mouthwatering detail the meals fashioned from his gardens and his visits to the sea. Highly recommended, short essays that warm the soul the same way Wendell Berry does.
