Enchanting, smart, illuminating. These essays highlight the well-worn bridge between humanity and the natural world that our modern minds often refuse to acknowledge. Beautiful.

I don’t give a book 5 stars very often, but this one deserves them all — in my opinion. :-) I absolutely loved it. I especially loved listening to the author read it on Audible. She was great. If you read the teaser about this book and it sounds at all interesting to you, I bet you’ll love it.

READ THIS.

Read this if you like poetry, reconciliation, science (biology), nature, green future, eco-optimism, environmental education, living in North America, natural living, history, gardening, and probably so many other elements.

I can not recommend this enough.

I listened to it as an audio-book, and she did a beautiful job narrating. Such a comforting voice.

READ THIS.

A heartfelt and incredibly well-wrought treatise on reciprocity, responsibility, and hope. I put off reading this book for quite some time (too busy to really appreciate it) and I'm glad I did - these stories need room around them to breathe. I probably could have gobbled this up in a few sittings but I'm glad I took my time :^)

Very relaxing and full of information. Im sure I'll return to it another time but it was just a little too slow for me currently.

“To love a place is not enough. We must find ways to heal it”(Braiding Sweetgrass, Robin Wall Kimmerer). In order to heal, we must acknowledge the wound.

This book has been so eye-opening and has educated me in more ways than one. Kimmerer’s writing style is beautifully done and I loved reading the stories from her life and the people around her.

If you enjoyed this book, I would recommend There There by Tommy Orange. It’s realistic fiction, but holds aspects of Native presence within the past and present.
