Although undoubtedly valuable as an overview of Marxism (and key criticisms of it), the book suffers a little from a major acceleration in the complexity of terminology from about halfway through. You barely become acquainted with the key concepts, before they're being torn down again and replaced with new terms. The artwork didn't detract from the book (I read this as an eBook, so the format was probably quite different from a hard copy), but nor would I say that it actually added to my understanding. The images themselves didn't really present any extra information, aside from imagining what Marx might have thought about his modern critics - and even then, it wasn't overly insightful. A useful introduction to Marxism overall, but not without fault.

What a slog this was. Initially this was quite a good background of factual historical events, theories and timelines. However as the book progresses I think the narrative becomes so complicated that unless you have a strong understanding (and chosen political stance) around Marxism it's tough to come up with one.

The ending of the graphics was just bizarre to me. The end basically says there is no value is socialism and it cannot be achieved. As if this "democratic" is this lovely safe option - which is isn't at all.

Frustrating overall to a book with a good premis.
