Primero que todo el nombre del libro me dio curiosidad. ¿Eve y Adam? ¿como los del paraiso? ¿los que creo Dios? ¿los primeros seres humanos segun la biblia? Un libro con ese nombre tiene que ser interesante.
Un libro muy entretenido que te mantiene con intriga leyendo y leyendo sin parar hasta que lo terminas. Con personajes que te llenan de intriga. Y que puedes fácilmente adaptarte a su tipo de narración y sus diferentes perspectivas y personalidades. Por ejemplo: Eve es muy simple de entender pero muy inteligente. Quisiera describir más detalladamente los personajes pero eso seria dar spoilers y no quiero hacer eso.
Si puedo decir que esta historia es un gran plot twist.
La partes donde el libro involucra la ciencia fueron mis partes favoritas porque soy gran fanática de la biología y la química, siempre me ha gustado aprender de donde vienen y como fueron hechas cada cosa y la biología que te enseña que tipo de combinación genética define tu color de cabello o de piel.
De verdad, me gusto mucho este libro. Y si eres fanático del género sci-fi y young adult (como yo), deberías tratar de leer este libro.

A fast-paced story filled with action and romance woven into it. I greatly enjoyed this read! It had been a long time since a novel had me diving so deep in it. I devoured ''Eve & Adam''. The only downside is that the narrator sometimes jumps to feelings without really having established them beforehand. But there are emotions, of course, loads of them (which is a good thing).
I would have wished for a bigger book.

"In the beginning there was an apple--" Which, based on the cover image, happened to be a very high-tech kind of apple. And the story itself reflected that high-tech kind of vibe. After Evening (E.V. or Eve for short) gets into a car accident she is moved from a regular old hospital to the high-tech research facility run by her mother, where she is given her the simple task of creating the perfect boy to keep her occupied.
Of course, with the high-tech apple on the cover, I expected something either more futuristic or more dystopian, yet it wasn't. If anything it was entirely possible to believe that it was happening during current times, making it a thrilling thing to read.
Eve is a strong female character for most of the book, though she falls into the standard trap later on of being a sucker for a pretty face.
On the other hand, her best friend is subject to a lot of slut shaming from pretty much everyone in the novel. First it's just Eve's mom, but then Solo starts, and eventually even Eve throws out some slut shaming remarks to her friend. And yet I thought she was one of the most interesting characters because she goes from being this flaky girl on the surface to one of the strongest, even if it's not immediately obvious.
Solo is our romantic male lead, and he definitely lives up to the stereotype. He's a conceited arrogant boy who immediately assumes that Eve is going to check him out. He's also smarter than almost anyone else in the novel (we're told as much many times), and has an agenda of his own.
Yet for my many issues with the main characters, I found that I did like the book. It wasn't as simple to figure out as I had expected, although some things were obvious, but there were enough twists to keep me on my toes. The writing itself was simple enough for the average teenager to be able to read without any troubles, but not overly simplistic.
The book has a fast enough pace to keep you reading along, and while I tagged this as science fiction, the science isn't overwhelming in the slightest. It's explained really well when it needs to be without it coming across as a lesson, which I find very important when reading science fiction!

The cover of this book is what made me pick it up. It don't know why but something about it intrigued me. And i must say i wasn't disappointed. This is the first book i've read from the two authors Michael Grant and Katherine Applegate, being one of the few people that didn't go with the crowd and read Grant's Gone series.
However from the very beginning this book starts out very descriptive. You can not only see what the main character, Evening, is seeing, but feel her pain as well. It starts out with a dramatic car crash and ends just as dramatically. With a very unexpected twist. Definitely a book you don't want to miss.

Eve & Adam is a fast-paced and unique sci-fi tale full of weird scientists, grisly experiments, secrets and a sprinkling of romance. The story focuses on genetics and shifts backwards and forwards between our main characters Evening & Solo. Later in the novel we read from Adam's point of view once he is created.
When I first heard about this book I thought it was going to be about a girl creating a boy, falling in love and maybe even teaching him all there is to know about life along the way. That wasn't what this book was about at all, there was a lot more to it.
I really enjoyed this, I found the story intriguing albeit a little predictable. I've read many people going on about the characters being a bit flat but I liked the characters. Evening wasn't all that interesting but Solo was a cool cat and I found myself liking him straight away. Another character who was extremly likable and funny was Evening's bestfriend Aislin. Although Adam's name is a main part of the title he was a very small part of the book.
All in all I found myself liking this book, I liked it as much as "BZRK" (also by Michael Grant) but for different reasons. I found out that Michael Grant and Katherine Applegate are married. How fun would it be to write books together! I also found out that there is a planned sequel to this book, I felt like this ended really well and didn't feel like it needed a follow up but I will still give the sequel a go.

This book was OK. I wasn't particularly invested in the story, I didn't care for the characters or what was going to happen. I did find the idea to be interesting, and I did want to know how it was all going to end. It was a super fast-paces and easy read, most of the chapters were short so that made it seem even quicker.
All in all this was just a decent book, I'm glad it is only a stand alone because I don't think I would have continued on.

Eve en Adam is zo'n boek dat al jaren in de boekenkast staat en er nog nooit is uitgekomen. Ik weet niet zo goed waarom niet, maar ik vermoed dat er gewoon elke keer een ander boek tussen gekomen is. Maar dit weekend zocht ik een dun boek dat ik even snel uit kon lezen, gewoon omdat ik daar zin in had. Ik had dan ook 0,0 verwachtingen van dit boek en ben gewoon gaan lezen.
In het begin moest ik even wennen aan de schrijfstijl. Ik heb een overload aan fantasy gelezen, vaak geschreven in langere zinnen en in alles behalve spreektaal, maar de karakters en de manier van denken en schrijven waren goed op elkaar afgestemd waardoor ik al snel lekker aan het lezen was en langzaam het verhaal in werd gezogen.
Het is een interessant verhaal, maar, en ik weet niet of dat komt omdat ik te veel fantasy lees, het voelt op bepaalde punten ook erg gehaast en afgeraffeld aan. Het echt interessante element van het plot is wat onderbelicht en ik ben zelf geen fan van de "love at first sight" trope die hier ten volle wordt uitgebuit.
Maar, al met al heb ik wel lekker gelezen, heb ik in 4 dagen weer eens een heel boek verslonden en vond ik het ook nog best spannend. Ik ga maar eens vaker gewoon een "tussendoortje" van de plank pakken, denk ik.

I would actually give this 3 1/2 stars. This was a super quick read, and I wish there was a little bit more to it. I wish that the story had been fleshed out a little more. There were some interesting concepts here, and I think there could have been a lot of depth and things to think about, but everything was glossed over so quickly, and all of a sudden we were at the end of the story.
It was definitely interesting enough, though, and I liked that the chapters were fairly short, especially when I don't have big chunks of time to sit down and read. The POV was first person, but it kept switching, which I didn't care for. I kept forgetting whose POV I was reading at the time, and that's something that can definitely take me out of the story, when I have to stop and figure out which character I'm reading.
All that said, I will continue on with the series, and hope that they dig a little bit deeper with the story in the next book.
