All the low reviews fail to understand that this is a novella prequel to Pretty Girls. It is now included at the end of the audio version of Pretty Girls and is the perfect time to read it - right after finishing the main novel. If you enjoyed Pretty Girls this is a wonderful little addition to give you Julia's POV. It was a perfect little addition.

A good character development piece for Julia and prequel to Pretty Girls, though I read it afterwards and it still was helpful for understanding show the sisters were before Julia went missing.

When I first read this I didn’t realize that it was a prequel to pretty girls so I thought it was really too short to give a good idea of anything happening and that it ended right when it was getting started. It was so much more heartbreaking to read it after pretty girls because you already know what’s going to happen to Julia and just like watching a movie you’ve already seen, you can only hope that it ends differently this time. I don’t know that this was a necessary add on to the story we got in pretty girls but it did give us better insight to who Julia and her sisters were before everything happened and what their family dynamic was. I think it made the story of pretty girls more impactful and really made you consider the what ifs of what happened to Julia. Seeing all the places her life was going and how she planned for the future was sad knowing she’d never get to do the things she was planning for. It also makes me even more angry considering what happened regarding her investigation and the police chiefs involvement in it.
