Ive decided I am not really a fan of short stories. I dont like to get into the feel of a story, for it to in end just a few short pages.

However, these short stories were pretty good. I hated the first two, but the ones following were enjoyable. They make me want to re-read Rebecca because it has been at least 5 or 6 years since I have read it.

Over I enjoyed reading the short stories, however Im not sure if I would read another collection of short stories again.

I really enjoyed this short story collection. Du Maurier is excellent at giving readers a creeping sense of foreboding. You know that something dreadful will happen, and have to keep reading as the happy characters tiptoe closer to doom.

My favorite story would definitely be The Limpet, which is narrated by a manipulative and narcissistic woman who wonders why her life has been so unfair… it was almost painful to get through because it felt so realistic to how some people think and act.

This a collection of 13 short stories by Daphne Du Maurier. It’s some of her earliest work, most of them about relationships, dark and morbid.

As you find with all short story collections, you like some more than others and this is no different. The most disturbing and creepy story was The Doll, it really freaked me out. But there were a few others that will definitely stay with me also.

If you are a Daphne fan I would definitely recommend.

An interesting collection of her earlier work. I would not suggest this as your first du Maurier--it works best as a companion to her other writings to see her evolution. But fascinating as a scholarly piece!
