This book is like a warm hug. The found family trope is excellent and I think everyone wants a grumpy library who cares wayyyy too much but will never say it but WILL show it. Terracotta definitely gives off the same energy as Lucy from The House on the Cerulean Sea

Fine, but a few too many moments of annoyingly clunky writing. The stakes of the main conflict with the solicitor are just not believable and set up in  clunky unsatisfying exposition. And the explanation of intersectionality was also just too obvious and belabored.

I was looking for something cozy and sweet, so this fit the bill. Following Mica as she discovers how to help three young witches, we meet a collection of characters that want nothing but fun and beautiful chaos. I loved getting to know everyone and learn how they ended up in Nowhere House.
Having gone into this pretty blind, I didn’t know how in depth the romance was going to be or how the plot would develop. I found that the romance was definitely a slow burn, you know who is paired up pretty early, but there are many small instances leading to the final connection. Because of this, the plot felt a little slow in moments, but taking it for what it is, I appreciated the mundanity of the storyline. The magic felt a little confusing at times because very little is shared (in line with the idea of secrecy), but I wish I was able to understand that a little better. I’m wondering if there is a plan to continue the storyline because I would absolutely continue reading.
Highly suggest if you’re looking for a quick, cozy realistic magic romance.
