"Death held no fear for me, but comfort."
A very triggering, brutal and dark book that I've ever read this year.

I couldn't believe whatever happened to Emily Cullen, the protagonist of this book, was only in a span of four days. It was so ruthless and grotesque what the Monster had done and could've done to her. I was taken aback when I read, not expecting it could be that graphic.

I liked how Eli Wilde and 'Anna DeVine wrote first few chapters and last chapters like they were Emily's journals. Everything felt so real and made me sick to my stomach. This book absolutely traumatized me, yet oddly comforting to read and be with Emily throughout the book. Whoever that could relate with what Emily had experienced, I wish an angel to always be with you.

Upon finishing this book, I have come to hate the words "good girl" coming out from anyone. I'm still mad and furious at the people around Emily for they could have kept her safe if only they believed in her. It sucked to know even her own family didn't trust her, and things she overheard of her family, hurt me so much.

The authors made me keen to know how Emily's and Evan's stories intertwined. I look forward to read the third book in this trilogy.
