I had never heard of Dolores Huerta so this story instantly piqued my interest. While the tale itself is fictional, the author's note explains that Dolores' mother really did operate a hotel and Dolores learned about compassion (and activism) from her mother's kindness. I loved this story and the message that kindness, compassion, and one strong voice can be enough to make a change.
