I was trying to explain this series to someone, and I just failed miserably. I don't know how to describe it. Every time I try, it just falls so far short of what I really want to say. The only thing that I can manage to say is that I love the characters and I love the writing.

I wish that I had waited until the series was completely finished to read these books, because this series sets up a world you just fall into and don't want to leave. It would have been great to read all four books back-to-back. I've liked each one, and wish I didn't have to wait a year for the final book.

En español es igual de bueno que en inglés y eso es decir mucho sobre una traducción. Good for the person who made it :)
Bien por Maggie Stiefvater igual porque tengo muchas ganas de saber como sigue. Vamos con The Raven King!

[reread in anticipation of the release of Call Down the Hawk]

Ugh, this book, gang. It is perhaps because I was left with this in the years between this book's release and The Raven King, but I've always held this one very dearly to my heart. It could be the fact that it was all that kept me warm in those long, cold months between books, but...

Well, I find penultimate books in series longer than three books can often be rough. Sometimes there's just too much pressure to amp things up for the finale that the second to last book can end up getting treated differently from the other books.

Instead, Maggie Stiefvater seems to understand that, while action needs to ramp up to get ready for a finale, but we also need to see our characters grow into the heroes they need to be for the final book. We need to see Ronan and Adam working together to frame Greenmantle. We need to see Gansey and Blue growing closer. We need to see our heroes becoming the best versions of themselves and this book fucking delivers on that a hundred times over.

I so adore these books and this is just another incredible quarter of my favorite cake ever made. I am so excited to finish it up and see what's next in Call Down the Hawk. But, in the meantime...

Make way for The Raven King.

[goodreads ate my first review so here I am, trying to recreate thoughts I already tried to record]

I am so in love with the way these characters are, how important each interaction feels, and how I find myself clutching these books tightly to my chest because I know I am holding something incredibly precious. These books will never ever cease to amaze and, while waiting for book 4 will be long and hard, I will also be incredibly sad when these characters are said and done, so the wait will not seem as bad because I am not ready to say goodbye to Blue and her boys.

Things I liked:
1. Everything
2. That opening cave scene in the cave of ravens!!!???!?
3. Blue and Gansey breaking the rules and touching hands in the Camaro
4. Adam and Ronan flirting their cute little butts off
5. Latenight phonecalls! THOSE RULEBREAKERS ARE MY FAVORITES
6. CHAPTER 26 OH GOD MY HEART NEARLY EXPLODED I LOVE IT WHEN THEY BREAK THE RULES ;A;
7. Ronan and Gansey showing up to the trial!!!!!
8. Blue's chapters
9. Gansey's chapters
10. "It was amazing that she and Ronan didn't get along better, because they were different brands of the same impossible stuff."
11. "PARRISH'S HONDAYOTA ALONE TIME" and "A SHITBOX SING-ALONG"
12. Gansey comforting Blue in the Phone/Sewing/Cat Room and them breaking the rules even more
13. All things Jesse Dittley
14. Blue and Ronan at the lake realizing they are different brands of the same stuff and being bros and just !!!!
15. Piper being a totally crazy and boss-ass bitch
16. Greenmantle being a total pansy and realizing he'd married a totally crazy and boss-ass bitch
17. Everything else

Things I didn't like:
1. Gwenllian
2. No that's it. That's the only thing I didn't like this book was practically perfect
