When I first started reading this book I couldn't figure out for the life of me why I decided to buy it. About 30 pages in and my question was answered. This book is tragic. Full of heartbreak, tragedy, drug abuse, and so much more. It is beautifully written and at no point was confused or thought the book went to fast or to slow It is a great read that you will devour in hours. You won't regret reading this story.

i wasn’t really that attached to mina or her relationship with sophie so i didn’t think i’d get emotional, but at the end,
when things were solved, you just feel the weight of what happened to them. it was so tragic and unfair. they were so young. they deserved a shot. they deserved better.
my heart broke with “we walk into the rest of our lives together, not knowing it'll end before it's truly started.” or better yet, it felt like my heart was ripped out.
and “mina's night-lights will endure. year after year, trev will replace them when they dim. and i know that someday, when i’m ready to come home, they'll light my way.”
i feel like throwing up. THEY DESERVED BETTER!!!!!!

Engrossing, and I liked the main character and that she deals with both addiction and disability. Some parts about grief I found moving.

This was a very enjoyable read. I liked Sophie as a main character and the alternating chapters of past and present worked really well for the story. And the reveal had me shook. It also had me on the edge of my seat.
And YAY FOR A BISEXUAL MC.

I couldn't, and still can't believe, that this is a debut novel.
I thought this was a well-written, realistic and heart-wrenching story, with a mystery that I wasn't prepared for (I've discovered I'm crap at guessing whodunnits, and I was totally sucker-punched by the reveal in this book). There was quite a bit going on, some characters that I mildly disliked (sorry dead girl), and occasionally I struggled with the time-laspes between chapters. But overall, I really enjoyed this read, I love the cover (sob) and I'm looking forward to reading more from Sharpe.
