I can’t take it anymore, and I feel bad because the prose is beautiful, but the plot is too meandering for me right now. Like what’s the point of the story?

I get that Jesse’s bisexual boyfriend left her and she’s found a new obsession in Madison, but who cares?

I think that’s my problem with this book: I don’t care.

And anytime my interest is piqued, it doesn’t last but three pages. I can’t make it through a whole chapter without forcing myself to sift through unnecessary details (granted, they do paint a pretty picture).

This was an easy read and quite interesting but it didn't really had me obsessed like most of the books I've read.

grungey. erotic. sleazy. perverse. at times very morbid. i loved it. there’s a lot of uncertainty with this book, the characters are provocative and confused and very human. at times it felt like a fever dream. Steinke’s prose is sensational; she explores the human psyche perfectly through her characterisation. regardless of the uncomfortable topics and graphic erotica (which I can imagine is off-putting for some), Steinke writes so hypnotically that I found it difficult to rate lower than a five. a transgressive and intimate read.

Too depressing and directionless. Felt like I couldn't understand the main character because of how wrapped up she was in everything else.

A “strong” female character.

Loved this book in high school. I'm not so sure what I'd think of it today.
