Harry and Craig are ex-boyfriends who decide to go for the world's longest kiss-- if they can go for 32 hours, they make the record books, but more importantly to them, act as a voice against hate crimes. A solid premise, and there's much to like, but the Greek chorus of past gay men who died of AIDS is distracting and gives the story an overly didactic feel. Certainly an important book in LGBT literature, but not Levithan's best.

I hate to say it, but this book was disappointing. I was expected a lot more out of it. I don't hate it in any way, but it just wasn't what I expected. I was only really interested in what set of characters and the rest bored me. Definitely not the best.

I almost gave up 10 pages in, but persevered. Two hours later I finished it and I still don't know what I think about it.

the thing about reading books is that i always find myself relating on a character and for this book, it's cooper. i want to hug him! there's so many things i want to say that i can't even begin with. i might have highlighted too much lines in this book. very heartwarming and very important.

I found this at a nearby Little Free Library and thought why not?
I understand that this book is very "slice-of-life" and Goodreads did not give it a YA rating (which would have helped me understand why I would have passed on this.)
The book is good for the people who need it like current high school students reading this, instead of a grown adult, unless you want to relive those memories/triggers. I also did not enjoy the flow of the story, without any breaks and weaving back and forth between the different characters in three days.

I like the way this book was written, but sometimes it sounded too melodramatic. Still, I think Levithan's writing is superb and a pleasure to read.
One big warning, though, if you are sensitive to descriptions of homophobia you will have a hard time with this book, and the same goes if AIDS is something that triggers you. Approach this book cautiously, because it has a lot of positive things on it, but also many sad parts
