"Siapa yang akan hidup? Dan siapa yang akan mati?"

Cantik banget.... Cantik.... Cantik................
Awal-awal gue baca, sempet agak nggak yakin. I was wrong though, this may be one of the most beautiful books I've ever read. I might be exaggerating, but I'm sure I had specific feelings while reading this book.

Life's really unfair for Ning,
dan mungkin yang lain juga, tapi holy shit. How could you suffer so much? Keluarga, passion, AND EVEN LOVEEE? Bro bfr!

Loved the magic system and the characters. I wish we could have more time with them and get to know them better. Story wise, I admit I got a bit confused, especially with King's backstory. I didn't have a great feel of the stakes but Judy I. Lin kept me guessing what side was the right one and who wasn't trustworthy. I still don't!
It was a fun read, highly creative and incredibly well researched. So many herbs, roots and ingredients with so many properties that heightened through magic.

I never really connected to it (which is a huuuge shame because magic system based on traditional tea making... so perfectly me) but I didn't feel like the characters had enough dimensions or that I cared much about the events. Disappointing

I just do not like YA....

I didn't particularly enjoy the reader either so that probably didn't help.

Maybe because I didn't connect with the content and there were just a lot of people and names I couldn't pronounce.

I'm not saying this book is bad - just not for me.

Really well written with atmospheric descriptions and a throughly likeable protagonist.

Cool concept - love the idea of magic through tea.

Excited for the follow-up in Jannuary.

The magic system is incredible. The most time for description is used to describe the magic system. And it's fucking tea. Loved it.
The only draw back, is it was hard to keep up with at times since there wasn't much description at places I expect there to be. But it was a symptom of YA tbh.
