The one thing that left me really wanting about this memoir is she doesn't get into Portlandia at all. I was really really curious how she came to do that show and how her thinking and feeling changed through this new form of expression after Sleater-Kinney broke up. Maybe in the next one?

If you are a fan of Sleater-Kinney, Riot Grrl, or 90's music in general, you will want to read this book. It's a great music memoir. Carrie Brownstein takes readers through her development as a musician and member of Sleater-Kinney, from her childhood to the opening show of S-K's reunion tour in 2015. Many of the chapters are named after the album they focus on - make sure you have iTunes or Spotify handy while you're reading!

A side note - though I enjoy Portlandia I was pleased to see very little mention of it in this book. There have been two books written by Brownstein and Armisen already - this book is all about the music.

Carrie Brownstein is a genius and so so eloquent. Not the best memoir I’ve read, but very well written and definitely a must-read/listen for fans of Sleater-Kinney.

If you are a Sleater-Kinney fan, I highly recommend the audiobook (read by Carrie). This book is as good, and satisfying, as seeing them play.

This book was a gift. Knowing anything from the POV of someone from your favorite band is special.
