Stitched up my heart only to break it again and again. McConaghy has such a special talent for writing the most bleak, heartwrenching, just absolutely magnificent stories. You could open this book to any random page and find a gut punch of a quote. Beautiful and tragic.

Haunting story of a wild girl and the dying wild.

It’s beautifully written and intertwines themes of environmentalism, loss, home and redemption. The prose is lyrical and evocative, however there is foreshadowing of something dark about Franny. And by the end of the book I severely disliked her and the chaos she wrought in her wake. But the birdies, my heart for the birdies.

Breathtaking. Only so very slightly dystopic and futuristic; just us in a few years. The sea-ness is moving.  The family and tragedy and marriage stuff, meh.
Being ever so loyal to places I've been, I was very excited for a small mention of Ushuaia.
