A bored cat gets some new playmates.. but will they get along?
I was looking for a new picture book to read when I came across this one! The expression of the cat, the blurb, I just had to try this one out! I love books about cats and I am still wishing that one day there are medicine that really work for cat allergies.
In this book we meet Kevin. A black/grey with stripes older cat who is utterly, totally, completely bored and we see what he does when he is bored. From biting the dog’s tale to throwing a vase on the ground. Kevin is bored and not afraid to show it. His owners have a great idea. Well, OK, I love the idea. The owners love the idea…. but Kevin is NOPEING out of there and that had me laughing. Hey boy, you wanted something fun in your life? Well then, don’t complain when that means you get two kittens in your life. XD
We see how Kevin thinks about the kittens, he isn’t amused. He isn’t happy. I could imagine the feeling though. From being the only cat in home to having to share things. Not just the toys but also the bed. I did like how near the end he decided to just grab his spot. Go for it instead of moping under the bed. Go Kevin!
That last picture though, oh no. I was laughing as I could see what kind of chaos would just happen next!
I kind of do wish that the owners had done just a bit more for Kevin, but who knows, maybe they did and we don’t see it as we just see that one POV and that POV is Kevin’s.
The art was quite nice! Love that you can clearly see, next to size, that Kevin is an older cat and the kittens are very young.
All in all, a fun book about a bored old cat getting more than he wished for. XD Very cute!
