I am not a dark person and I sometimes find the brightness of my mind a barrier to empathizing with others experience. This book is dark and broke down some of that barrier for me. The style of her writing reflects her themes and her love of poetry comes through. I don't know how someone who has experienced more trauma would respond to this book, but as someone who has not, I was grateful to have read it.
