Via Levar Burton Reads. Interesting story that puts an interesting perspective on things. While I am listening to it in 2022 with pandemic persisting, I can imagine how this story felt at the time of the original podcast release. It is thought provoking an challenges one's perspective in a good way.
Interesting concept, but the way the main male character talked about his wife was really off-putting. I never got a sense of whether the author was trying to write a man who was patronizing and belittling, or if those sentiments came from the author himself. Unfortunate, because the premise was cool.
"On the television we watched what could only be described as the end of the world. But that was wrong. It was the beginning"
I listened to this on LeVar Burton Reads, and as always, he leaves me with food for thought afterwards: "I don't know if we're better at being humans than we've ever been in our past history. I just don't think we've gotten appreciably better at being humans, certainly not to one another. "
