This is a teaching, and a remembrance.”

My favorite short stories from this collection were Né Łe! by Darcie Little Badger (lesbians and dogs in space, say no more!), Transitions by Gwen Benaway (an exploration of womanhood), and Imposter Syndrome by Mari Kurisato (an android takes over the body/identity of a murdered indigenous woman with her consent).

I read this for the #TransRightsReadathon (you can find more info at transrightsreadathon.carrd.co)

This was a beautiful, diverse collection of SFF short stories based in indigenous and two-spirit traditions. As with any short story anthology, each story is unique, and I naturally enjoyed some more than others. Nevertheless, each story was interesting and well-written in their own right, and I highly enjoyed the anthology as a whole.

This is a sci-fi/fantasy anthology featuring LGBT+ Indigenous characters. I didn't realize at first that the publishing house is Canadian; it was interesting to see Canadian characters and locations feature in some of the stories. As with any anthology, the tones varied by quite a bit and I liked some of the stories more than others. However, the anthology overall has a hopeful tone and I enjoyed it.

My two favourite stories were Né łe! by Darcie Little Badger and The Boys Who Became the Hummingbirds by Daniel Heath Justice.
