I hesitated to list this one, because it's really not one I can recommend at all. I basically discovered that I can rent audiobooks from my library directly to my phone, and I was so excited that I snatched the first book I recognized, which happened to be this one that I heard about on Anne Bogel's podcast. The synopsis sounded like one of those fashion industry chick flicks, so I thought it might be fun to listen to. But there are a wide array of vices throughout this book, everything from heavy drinking, to shoplifting, to taking other people's prescription drugs, all treated as normal and fun. Several references to sexual relationships, and one brief sex scene which I skipped past as soon as I heard it coming, so I couldn't even tell you the level of innapropriateness. And the language! F-bomb is used liberally. I'm not even sure why I finished it other than the generational differences and the dynamic between Imogen and her boss was interesting to me - but the end came with no real insight or resolution to that aspect of the plot, leaving me disappointed. So I wouldn't recommend it.

I have to note though that I thought the narrator did a great job of reading the different characters in different voices. I did laugh out loud when she read lines by Imogen's husband though, because those romantic-sounding lines in her fake man voice came off creepily funny to me, haha! It's hard for women to read man lines and men to read woman lines in audiobooks, I think.

Picked it up and couldn't put it down.

Remember when Jane Green wrote good fiction, and not just the same story over and over again? Yeah, this book is Jane Green in her prime. Imogene is a delight- a 40-something, successful woman who has a supportive husband and who doesn't feel the need to take down other women in her field to be successful.

I won this book as part of a Goodreads First Giveaway and it was a great first win.

I really enjoyed this book, much more than I thought I would. It was great to see Imogen adapt to the technological world and watch the misguided Eve highlight the issues with this developing world. I found it interesting to see what we see on the Internet on a daily written down and be explained to a slightly older generation. It made me realise how quickly the younger generation adapts to computers and the Internet and everyone else has to catch up for fear of losing their jobs. It also gave an insight into how over the top the Internet can be at sometimes, for instance the incessant use of hashtags, something I too am guilty of when it comes to Instagram. It makes you realise the benefits of both the Internet and more traditional ways of working as well as the negatives of each. This was a great book, definitely worth reading.

I struggled at the beginning because I just disliked Eve so much that I didn’t want to read about her. I found it pretty predictable but entertaining. More strong female characters as expected which I love

3.5 stars. I thought it was an interesting look at millennials in the work place and "older" generations and the switch to everything electronic.

I LOVED this book. The authors are a powerhouse team that manages to draw readers in and make them feel like they’re right there in the story. I hated Eve right along with Imogen, loved Alex, Tilly and Annabel and I was so, so sad when this book ended. A spin on Devil Wears Prada that reminds us all that staying humble is one of the keys to professional and personal success.

I would have given it a 3.5, bumped up to 4. I liked the premise of this book and the issues it tried to address. It took me a bit to get into it though, but worth a read/listen to.
