I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this collection of short stories. Favorites included Shannon Hale's "Bouncing the Grinning Goat," Kenneth Oppel's "The Ghost Boy," and DJ MacHale's "The Scout."

Read this book in preparation for using it for a science fiction unit in my eighth grade ELA class. I liked some stories better than others -- loved The Scout, The Dirt on our Shoes and The Warlords of Recess.

I'm interested to see which stories the student pick as their favorite.

Note: In order to read this story, I had to check out the book from my library.
The story itself was pretty good, but if you can't get the book of short stories that it is in from your local library, and you don't want to read the rest of the stories, I would go without reading it.

Uneven, but several stories were quite good. And I'd never read the Bradbury before. (Or if I had, I didn't remember.)

This was one of those novellas that you'll end up just giggling through. I don't mean it as an insult, and if you read Rick Riordin's works you would know that. He's very good at balancing humor and drama. This story is pretty much humor/comedy and well worth the quick read. It has Apollo in it, so what could possibly go wrong? ;) I would recommend this story. 5 out of 5 stars.

Favorite character: PERCY.

Not as good as other short novellas (and the book themselves), but at the end Percy always makes something 100% more enjoyable.

i liked it a=but i think quite simarly of it as i did of sun of sobek.

i think it was great to just get another short of the characters before october 8 but i just feel that maybe some of these shorts need abit more of the characters involed rather then just the whole "lets quickly go off on another gods errand" but i still liked it dont get me wrong, the day it came out i dropped all my other books and read this and i will still continue to do that for any other shorts i just with that there was more of the actual characters in it

This is a very short story that's part of a larger collection of short stories by different authors. It had been quite some time since I last read some Percy Jackson, but I was very glad I did return to the world of the Modern Greek Gods.

The writing and Percy's wit will be exactly what you'd expect after reading the series. My only complaint is the length. It really is too short, Grover birthday is glossed over in this way. It did remind me I should pick up the next series by Rick Riordan!
