Occasionally funny - in a love of the TNG cast sort of way.
At times cringe and cliché.
A lacklustre mystery with a disappointing reveal.

Not exactly what I was expecting in all honesty.

Brief Summary:
Brent Spiner is having success playing Data on Star Trek: The Next Generation when he receives a disturbing package that spirals into threatening and bizarre letters that has Brent on edge. Unsure of who the person is sending these letters, Brent is constantly in fear that his life may end.

Review:
I went into this not sure exactly what to expect. I picked up based on the title and the fact that it was written by Brent Spiner. It did draw me in right away, picking up as the package arrives and Brent gets his first taste of fear. After that it seems to spiral a bit.

There is a lot that I think were supposed to be funny moments, but I honestly didn't laugh while reading this book. I wanted to know more about who was behind the letters and I f0und moments interesting while reading.

I don't recall if the book every explicitly stated in what season of the show we were in, but it seems like a lot of other characters were quoting the very specific episode in which Brent's crazed stalker seemed to be channeling and a lot of the time I was hoping that another episode would be mentioned. However, if that was just the previous season I can understand why so many would bring that episode up. At times it just seemed out of place or an attempt to make us think specific people might be the ones behind the letters.

Overall, I enjoyed the story elements and how things kept going a bit crazy from time to time. I could see how it was affecting Brent and the other characters. The ending seemed a bit abrupt but the book is under 300 pages so I can see how that would happen.

I think that I would probably read this again, but not anytime soon.

This man wrote fanfiction about himself. He had this 5 women all fighting for his affection. This was the most self-serving, anti-feminist book I’ve ever read…and I read The Catcher in the Rye

Kinda didn’t like how it was going. Got the ick and like part of me knows it’s the crime noir drama but didn’t have to happen.

This was a sheer delight. The audio version read by Spiner with his fellow cast reading their dialogue, plus music and sound effects, was excellent. This is definitely for Trek fans, but gives enough context throughout to be enjoyable for those who aren’t overly familiar with TNG. We’re currently watching the whole thing, which just made it more fun.

I deducted a star because it didn’t quite stick the landing and seemed to fall into GoT subvert expectations rather than pay off what was hinted at territory.

i am a HUGE trekkie with a particular love for Data, so i of course had to give this a shot. I read via audiobook and honestly, even though it was strange, the audiobook was the way to go. it’s narrated by Brent Spiner himself, as well as other members of the TNG cast, and that made it even more fun. i am desperate to know what is true and what is fiction, as this is a combination of both, but nevertheless i found it very enjoyable!

while it was unexpected and left me with some mixed feelings, this is entertaining for any TNG fan.
