Wow wow wow wow wow. I feel so lucky to have been alive to read this. Emily Henry writes the most beautiful prose all while tackling huge themes of life, death, love, grief, and time in such tender ways. I was constantly rereading sentences because I could not believe how perfectly the described a feeling or place. The magical realism in her YA books are always so intriguing and filled with mystery. Oh and she’s so funny!! She so perfectly describes what having a teenage crush feels like (“At the sound of my name, whole forest grow from samplings into moonlit redwoods beneath my collarbones.” Like???) The romance was a great little treat. This is absolutely my favorite of her YA books. Wow.  I will always always want more romance books from her but I will be so happy if she ever dives back into this genre. Buying a physical copy asap because I basically highlighted every sentence in this book.

“I was just a moment and you made me forever.”

This book has got something intriguing, yet I'm not sure what to think of it. The writing pulled me in, but I found the story a bit strange. Magic realism is kind of a hit and miss for me. This book was confusing.

if anyone was going to make me like YA it would be ms. emily henry. but damn the job just can’t be done.

to be fair… yes I did like this. but I hate YA and I usually don’t love magical realism. this was already a major stretch for me.

it still feels like emily henry, but it doesn’t fully have the same charm as her adult work.
