Jacky had big plans for her summer, which have been derailed by her parents. Her father is working as a seasonal police officer, with the potential of getting a full-time job on the force. Her mother is going back to school to become a police officer. Jacky and her sisters must all get jobs, help with babysitting, and do things around the house. Jacky uses her talents to become a carnival game worker. She draws crowds in with her comedy routine. She and her friends are also participating in a Shakespearean production. Everyone around her is falling in love, but someone close to her is a thief. Jacky hopes if she catches the thief, she can ensure her father's position on the force.

I thought this book was fun and funny. I now get why all the kids are talking about this series.

I liked many things about this book, but was a little disappointed in the way it wrapped up. Once again, the narrator was excellent (I talked with Grabenstein about her when I saw him last month), once again, Jacky (and the reader) are led to a wrong conclusion. There were some laugh-out-loud lines, and even an "Aha" moment near the end. A few characterizations were just a bit too over the top (like Travis), but I realize subtlety is not always the standard in middle school literature. I did find it somewhat clever the way the story paralleled "Midsummer Night's Dream" (and would any student want to read that after this book?)

Some other cute touches included Jacky writing her mother a letter to explain what was happening (as she had done throughout the first book), but I was disappointed that she did not give it to her. I wonder if her ring toss strategy really works...

At times I forget that Jacky is only 12 years old, but there were many parts that really rang true, such as when she pondered how her relationships with boys were possibly changing. Several of the laugh-out-loud moments dealt with Bob/Bubble Butt, as when he actually combed his hair to impress her.

I didn't think this was as good as the first one was, but a lot of books fall into this trap.

Oh well, I still think it was a cute book, and great for younger readers.

I mostly found this one blah, but it was interspersed with life lessons and Jacky's usual drama.

I loved the sequel to Jacky Ha-Ha almost as much as I did the original!! I usually stick to YA books, but this cute duology was so much fun to read! this book is definitely more on the funny side and less on the coming-of-age side, but it was still enjoyable!

Jacky Ha-Ha: My Life is a Joke went by super quickly! it's a lot different than the first book because Jacky is a lot more mature now, so there's a lot less character growth going on. but we do get to see her really use her talent for her summer job and FOR A LEADING ROLE IN SHAKESPEARE, so that was cool! all of her sisters were in this book too, and I really enjoyed seeing all of them interact with each other again, the family part of this duology is super cute!

overall, I thought this book was great, just like the last one, but it was definitely a lot more light-hearted than the first book. loved this series!!

I really liked this! I read the first book sometime in my past life and had no idea that there was a second book. the second book didn't really add to the storyline as it developed the characters for me. jackie learned so much in this book and her life changed, pretty much for the better. I really liked how the story wrapped itself up at the end, it was all in one neat little package.
