This essay was written by Kojeve in 1936 to present and defend the work of his uncle, Wassily Kandinsky. It contains some interesting nuggets, but you have to pry them from the ore of Kojeve's godawful writing style. Everything must be rephrased and repeated, when a good writer would have stated the case in a clear and accurate way to begin with.
