Many terrific authors here. Nadine Gordimer, Ana Menendez & Amy Tan the standouts for me. Perhaps especially “In Cuba I was a German Shepherd”. Such a poignant take on identity & loss.

Oh, woe is me, I do principally despise the short story collection, where the five-star tale meets the barely-scraping-two.
A few of these stories were so profound and perceptive that they blew me away, but others were more of a pleasant breeze, and more still were a vacuum that sucked away at my time with no intention of rewarding the commitment.

Read on plane journeys between Vancouver and Montreal. I enjoyed some of these very much and others less so. My favourites were by Nadine Gordimer, Raymond Carver, Roxana Robinson, and William Trevor.
