Wow! What an amazing story that I never knew from the Revolutionary War.

This book is absolutely wonderful-from the gingerbread recipe endpages to the interesting and informative author's note-I just loved everything about it. The illustrations are especially clever and now I have a hankering for some gingerbread even though it is the middle of summer!

A wonderful story about a German baker who lived in Philadelphia and volunteered to bake for George Washington's troops.

Great story! It also fits really well into the CCSS for the American Revolution and a nonfiction tie in for a folktales unit.

I liked the idea of this book, but it left me wanting, to the point where I felt more confused than enlightened.

Great art. I love that it mimics gingerbread decoratons. The author note was really interesting, I wish the authors voice from the note shined through more in the actual text.
