My Plan was to read the entire OZ series. I will stop at book 5. Every book is a Lather-Rinse-Repeat. Dorothy gets to a magical land (not always OZ) has to find a way home, usually by finding OZ again, with strange characters that may or may not show their faces in the next book.
Not really my flavor.

I really need to stop expecting these to have a plot, rather than a series of adventures culminating in someone going home again, but this one seemed even slighter than usual and I'm afraid just didn't do it for me. I didn't connect to the new characters (though delighted a little when old friends showed up), and nothing really happened. At least there were cannibals. (Well, I suppose they weren't technically cannibals. People-eaters, then.)

Better than the books three to four. Book one was more for nostalgia of my youth since I read it when I was young for a school report and watched the Wizard of Oz films many times. The fifth book was a bit better than the last due to more of a joyous ending. The Oz scene at the end seemed all colourful and happy. Or at least in my head visualizing the whole book, it was colourful, had interactions and a bit more fun. And to see fairies from rainbows as well as that of Santa Claus. Yet, as usual, there feels like something is missing. I know this is a book for the ages of 8 to 10. Yet, there is something missing that I can't put my foot on. It's a little bit lacking in action or something.

The next book in the Oz series. I enjoyed this one immensely. It was great seeing Dorothy’s next adventure to Oz and how she gets there this time around. The meeting of new friends on her journey and then the end result of all old and new friends coming together as one for a celebration was fun.

I do occasionally miss all the friends from The Wizard of Oz so it was great to see them all again with Dorothy.

After this one I am more motivated to continue on with the series since they seem to be improving.

A low-key Oz adventure that Baum used to feature characters from his other books.

Baum should have stopped several books ago. There was no more story!

There came a point very quickly where I just didn’t care.
