I was hoping that this second installment would help to give a little more insight and understanding to the world as a whole as well as the technology but I’m honestly more confused than I was after the first novella. I think the issue here is that this world is to broad and complex to be fit within such a short format. There isn’t enough room to really dive deep enough into the organization and politics of this world and it ends up feeling like the rough outline of a much larger work.

Binti goes home to discover more of who she is and sees her path going a direction she did not anticipate.
I liked this book even more than the first book, Binti, because it gave more information about her home and her people. I love how these books provide how Binti is connected to not only to her people and to other species but also to the land.
Ms. Okorafor does a good job in showing how a 17 year old or any person resists change when it goes against the path envisioned for one's self. Demonstrating how you must fight your own internal prejudices before you can fight other people's prejudices.
Highly recommend this series. Anticipating the next book.
