History - can you believe that some people think it's boring! Wait until you meet President Babe Lincoln, the time traveler! Babe Lincoln appears to two friends and tells them that they have the power of enjoying and changing history right at their fingertips. The "real" Babe Lincoln and the "guest" Babe Lincoln accidentally trade places and both learn to appreciate who they are and in what time period he was born. Cute book! So glad that one of my favorite authors wrote another book about one of my favorite "Babes"!

A fun look at history by the master, Steve Sheinkin, for younger readers. I'm looking forward to buying this for my library.

I need a "fractured history" category similar since I am not sure where to categorize it. It for a slightly older audience than Magic Tree House - sweet spot is probably mid to late 2nd to 3rd grade. The author's note in the end helps readers understand what parts are based on real facts.

This will be a fun series to give to young readers, I'll be interested in their reactions.
Readers don't need to have a lot of background knowledge on the historical figures, as information is given along the way.
Just a suspension of belief that time travel via a box is entirely possible!

This made for a fun read-aloud, although I suspect a lot of the history went over my 2nd grader’s head. He thought it was funny, though, and was always eager to listen to another chapter. It’s got lots of silly moments, some actual history, and a nice section at the end summarizing Lincoln’s life and telling which of the most unlikely things were actually true.

Very silly, but there are quite a few historical facts given as well.

3 stars from me and 5 stars from my 11 year old, so 4 stars it is. I usually don’t take her opinion into account on my ratings, but this is one of those stories solidly aimed in the 8-12 age range. It’s funny, silly, and loaded with historical facts.

Less earnest than MTH, I would definitely offer this to kids looking for a funny read and who are ready to graduate beyond beginning chapter books.
