I was so excited about this book. When I finished the first three as a teenager, I actually wrote Lauren and asked for a sequel with them in college. Fast forward seven years and I find out there is one!

And I'm...pretty disappointed. Maybe it was because I was expecting so much out of it—the first three were SO GREAT—and I read the whole thing and didn't feel like I really read anything substantial at all.

I am so glad that this series continued into their college years. It was such an interesting look into the freshman world of high school best friends in college and the crazy/fun/scary things that happen when you go out into the "real world." I would love another book in this series but that is probably unrealistic. But here's to hoping. (:

Wasn't a huge fan of some of the plot lines, but overall it was really relatable and I loved reading about Angela, Zoe, and Maddie again. Reading it was like seeing old friends again for the first time after a long time apart.

I read TTYL, TTFN, and l8r, g8r as a kid, so it felt very fitting to follow these characters into adulthood. They seem to still be stuck in high school while I've grown up, but it was still satisfying to meet these characters again. A fun and quick read.

HOW I RATE BOOKS: I've probably explained this before, but... I rate books differently than movies. Rather than look at the number of stars, I take Goodreads' explanations of stars seriously. From me, a 3-rated book means I "liked it" and I recommend it. A two means it was "okay" and I liked some aspects of it. Often, twos are 2.5s. Anyway...if I give a film or tv show a 3, I probably DO NOT RECOMMEND it. If I give a book (according to Goodreads' rating system) a 3, I DO RECOMMEND IT.

Once again, this is more of a reflection than a review. If I wanted to review, I would try to balance my criticism with my praise.

Who should read this? Why did I read this? If you also discovered the "Internet Girls" series ~10 years ago and saw yolo on Hoopla (library resource), you should follow your curiosity and read a bit of it. It's been a while since I've read the earlier books in the series, but the characters in yolo seemed more mature and empathetic than I remember. (Other aspects of character and situation felt Disney-ish, immature, or unrealistic.) ...the ending was "eh."

I imagine/have thought up a lot of non-text message substories, but Myracle probably won't write these. If written, they'd be fan fiction. A story about the once-homeless man settling into his new home and about his Thanksgiving at the Lutheran church. A story about Zoe's writing career after discouragement. A story about one character's experience of depression.

How would I categorize this? An epistolary YA college bildungsroman (published the same year I started college)

2.5 stars...Sometimes, I thought "Oh, how heartwarming." Other times: "How immature." "Unnecessary." "Who texts that perfectly?" "Realistic?" "Brushing that important issue aside?" AND "Why not eliminate the acronym 'yolo' from the whole book? It would read the same/slightly better."

Ahhhh!!! There's going to be a new one! I loved the first three and I thought that they were so freaking adorable and fast reads. I can't wait for this to come out and I'm doing everything in my power to try and get an ARC.

After waiting forever for another book in this series, I finally thought to look for it when I was on vacation and didn't have any internet to download books from my kindle cloud. I was so excited and had high expectations for it - and they were met! Can't wait for more :)
