I'm not so thrilled with books that lack a specific plot, but this was charming and very well written. The last chapter was a thing of beauty.

Plus, as a physics major (turned editor), this book was right up my alley.

I listened to the book this time and really enjoyed it again. Now that we’ve been to Los Alamos, it was really cool to know about the places mentioned in the book.

Does a wonderful job of capturing the mentality of the historical era.

This is a great YA read. I don't know anything about The Manhattan Project and this is told from the perspective of a child so I still don't know much but NOW I want to know more. A wonderful and sad book.

This book was amazing! It really drew me in right away, with a fantastic plot, characters to root for, and the feeling of being right there with them. It was a very emotional read, but so worth it.

I read this out loud with my kids, and there were parts I could just barely get through because I was just so emotional. It is incredibly well-written and the author does a fantastic job of bringing the readers right into the place that doesn't exist and giving them an idea what it would be like to live there, in secret. War, friendship, family ties, ethics of nuclear weapons - this is a heavy book, but a beautiful one.
