I liked this one! It's not great literature or anything, but sweet, enjoyable fun :D

of course, I picked up this graphic novel based solely on its bizarre name. I really loved the illustration; Daly sometimes draws out the frames more than I care for. it's still an interesting style - almost like watching animation instead of a graphic novel.

the name is also the plot. the story is one of the weirdest plots I ever read which makes it refreshing.

I picked up this book because someone on BoingBoing.net compared it to the Scott Pilgrim series, which is effortlessly hilarious. The Red Monkey Double Happiness Book is neither effortless, nor hilarious.

The first story, while brief, is very well done. It's funny and compact and well-laid out. I wasn't in love, but I was intrigued.

So I started the second story and was forced to skim through it because of the constant presence and rambling of the hippie best friend. It got boring. I just couldn't do it.

The illustrations are awesome, I liked the car, I liked the name of the Chinese restaurant, but all that said - I'll hold out for the next Scott Pilgrim.
