A very rare reading experience

This was indeed one of the most mesmerizing books I have read; was terribly painful personally and yet found it full of compassion, Illuminating, interesting and heart warming. Even funny at times.

Weirdly I really like this book. It was a little disorienting at times but I’m sure that was on purpose. Never has a book made me feel like i was also slipping into dementia or “just tripping” as the kids say. It was wonderfully written.

So this was a really good depiction of what it's like living with dementia. The story itself was excellent but I found it tough following Maud's disjointed narrative and thought process. My brain felt just as muddled as Maud's. I listened to the audiobook too which didn't help - unfortunately the narrator grated on my nerves but I aimed to give a truthful review based on the story and not on the narrator. So that's why I gave it the extra star as opposed to the three I was initially contemplating. Worth a read but you do need to be awake as the narrative is quite disjointed.
