I really liked the art style. I REALLY related to the diaspora feels. Connecting the story of Sun Wukong to Jin's/Danny's struggle with identity and shame was done masterfully. It was very uncomfortable to read, which I think is one of the reasons so many of the negative reviews are calling the story "racist"—it's depicting racism in a way that is incredibly hard to watch, regardless of whether or not you're Chinese. Overall this felt a lot more YA/teen than my typical taste—probably someone who's a teenager would get more out of this book than I did.
