It's a good story for most of the book with solid character building but it's the final few chapters that really grab you. Leah/Nina is hunted/hunting those who want her dead and I really enjoyed the cat and mouse chase leading up to the climax.

This was a different read for me. I liked it a lot. I’d recommend it. It didn’t hit 4-5 stars for me only because I didn’t find myself reaching for it and ignoring my kids for it. I liked it when I was reading it though and am glad I tried it.

This is the kind of straightforward book where the best lines in it are from other things, often TV shows. They’re not stolen— they’re fully cited and sourced in the story, but it’s a fundamental weakness when a quote from The Wire or Friday Night Lights is better than any line that the writer has come up with.
As for the plot it’s a very straightforward action book. I wouldn’t even call this a thriller. It’s a book about a woman being hunted by the corporate equivalent of a mafia boss. There’s very little in the way of mystery or plot twists, they just hunt her down and then there's a showdown. It kinds of feels like the third act of a different, better book.

Let me start with I did like this book I did like the plot. However a book review is not a honest review unless you point out what you didn’t like. I wouldn’t say this a mystery but there are moments that surprise you and the plot is very realistic to what is kind of like a witness protection program without being hidden away by US Marshalls you are responsible for hiding yourself. I could actually picture the characters as if this was in movie form.
Ok so here is what I feel was the less likable part. The start of the book starts out tense and grabbing the few chapters makes you want more. The first couple parts of this book are very descriptive and informative but I feel like that is what kills the ending of the book. It’s almost like the author ran out of time and had to put a quick end to the story. I’m all for cliffhangers even with books that don’t have a part two but this cliffhanger kind of wonders off to the ending the characters actually deserved.
Michael Koryta is a great author regardless if I loved or loathed this book. He is an author I highly recommend please don’t let my review make you back away from this book. We all have our likes and dislikes.

This story was very convoluted and I had a difficult time believing any of it would happen. The characters were ok but I didn't feel a connection to any of them. I like Michael Koryta but I just didn't like this book.
