2019 Review
Still a great book; made me chuckle out loud on numerous occasions. Read again in preparation for more books in the EM series to be launched later this year.

2017 Review

...So, what did I like about it?
My regular followers will know that I am already a fan; I love Felicity Heaton’s writing style and find her stories very easy to read. She easily transports me into the paranormal world she creates, I love her complex, multifaceted characters - her characters feel real because, like us, they live in the grey area between evil and goodness and are capable of both (I hope that a certain wolf shifter gets his own book in the future *hint, hint* Felicity) - and I enjoy the twists and turns she builds into her plots. Claimed by a Demon King didn’t disappoint me.

This paranormal romance novel made me chuckle quite a lot, I am amazed that I can feel compassion and a connection to a caveman-type alpha male character but Ms Heaton writes Thorne with her trademark style and I was hooked! Sable, is exactly what I want from the main female character; strong, intelligent, funny, loyal and as far from shallow as you can get! Fabulous! Yes, I did shed a tear or two during some of the more tender scenes and the fighting and action scenes fed my adrenalin fix - in other words I was gripped and couldn’t stop reading!

I feel that I’ve got to mention the sex; this is quite an erotic paranormal romance tale, however, Ms Heaton makes the most explicit sexual scenes very romantic (I think she’s a very talented writer to accomplish this), these erotic interludes are balanced really well with beautifully written descriptions and the characters’ internal dialogue. For me, a story is only really erotic if I’m emotionally connected to the characters involved and Ms Heaton gives her characters such depth that they do become real. I found myself getting caught up with the steam but the tender insights into Thorne and Sable’s doubts and emotions plus the growth of their love and trust in each other was heart-warming to read.

...So, ummm, was there anything I disliked about it?
Nope – hence the 5 stars!

...So, basically what I’m saying is...
I loved this book! Great world building, multi dimensional strong characters and a gripping background story! It’s a tale of epic battles, secret pasts & hidden foes, uneasy allies & new friendships but underlining all of that – it’s a passionate rollercoaster of a love story.
Due to the sexual content– it’s definitely steamy – and the graphic violence, I’d recommend this book to adults only who are fans of relationship and romance stories with a bit of fire and passion.

2015 Review - Loved this story! Can't wait to read the next book in this series, we get a preview of it at the end of this one...

~ 5 Demon King Stars ~

ARC Review

Felicity Heaton knows how to pull an audience in. Every book I pick up from her I don't want to put down. Claimed by a Demon King is book two in the new Eternal Mates series. I enjoyed the first book, Kissed by a Dark Prince, but I absolutely LOVED the following book, Claimed by a Demon King.

We get lots of action, fantasticily written fight scenes, wonderful character development, virgin hero, kick ass heroine and hot hot sex. I enjoy how distributive the author is in describing the sex scene’s as well as the action. It makes it easy to imagine and believe in the world, characters and plot.

Sable is a great kick ass heroine and complemented King Thorne. Thorne needs a strong battle ready women at his side and Sable fits that part. I enjoyed the relationship development as well as a few surprises along the way like learning about Sable’s parent and discovering that she is more then just a human. (No I won’t tell you. You will have to read the book to find out) We also get great sexual tension and some fantastic shared sex dreams. I also enjoyed the cameo appearance at the Vampire Theater. I was unsure in the last book if it was set in the same world/time as her other books and now I know.

If you have not picked up this series, I highly recommend you do! I also suggest checking out her other works! Felicity Heaton is a master at drawing us in, building our imagination and taking us on a kick ass adventure with the right amount of hot sex and romance.

It was very hard to rate this book because there were very great stuff and very bad stuff =S
The problem is that I started reading the book with preconceived idea: when I read "demon hunter", I think Ellana in the Guild Hunter series by Nalini Singh and when I read "demon king", I think books written by Karen Chance. In fact, the characters of Sable and Thorne have nothing in common with them and this is what has me a little disturbed at the beginning =)
I found the first part of the book really long (let's say up to 40%) with a lot of useless talking, hesitations (Do I love him ? Does she love me ? What should I do ? etc etc), demons not very clever (and not very interesting), sex scenes that were totally useless ... I almost give up because of that.
Fortunately, the second part of the book was much better with the war looming on the horizon, Sable finally reacts as a warrior (and I like the discoveries about her past and her new powers), Thorne stops being a dramaqueen and finally behaves like a true king and a plot that is finally worth it.
I totally loved the character of Grave who intrigued me and I would like to read something about him, to know more about him .... I hope to see him soon =)
A nice book but I expected more, though I'd probably read the next book (especially to have news from Rosalind)

Felicity Heaton is a very talented writer, I have read just three of her books but the three that I’ve read were great. I loved Kissed by a Dark Prince and Claimed by a Demon King was even better! Felicity knows how to write PNR, her universes are magical and well thought, her characters (humans, demons, elves, vampires, werewolves etc) are amazing and I just love her writing style, very easy to read but not soppy. She is definitely an author worth knowing!

We are introduced to this universe in the first book but also in her other series: the Vampire Erotic Theatre series (it is situated in the same world). I love it, in the first book we visit the world of the Elves and in this one we’re going to Hell… Like I said, Felicity is a very thorough writer, she’s not sloppy, she does things well and I like that. Each species has a world and it’s very intriguing, very cool and with Felicity’s descriptions of everything, it’s magical!

Prepare yourself……… I LOVED THORNE!!!! My Demon King!!! Thorne was the perfect MC. He’s a big demon, huge, scary, loyal, strong, smart but he is soooo vulnerable and sweet too. I can’t even. Thorne doesn’t know how to deal with humans and Sable, his mate, is human. He wants to please her so badly and he tries so hard, I loved that! I loved how hard he tried, how serious he was about everything even when it was a bit ridiculous, I loved his patience with Sable, his understanding, his loyalty to his people…I loved everything about him. Thorne is truly one of my favorite MC of all time. I just…I loved the way he talked, how insecure he was about himself sometimes and, GUYS, he was a virgin for god’s sake!!! This was awesome! It is impossible to not love him. Thorne is both strong, badass, scary and sweet, vulnerable, tender…

Sable, Sable, Sable…….. I don’t know what to think of her. After reading the book I can say that I liked her, but while reading Claimed by a Demon King, she really did piss me off. You guys know that I hate love triangles and, in this book, there is sort of one but not really... Let’s just say that Bleu (the other guy, an elf), doesn’t stand a chance against Thorne but still, for the first 50% of the book, it was annoying. Sable was not interested in Bleu so that’s why it’s not really a love triangle but still, it was annoying and she was annoying because she didn’t want to hurt Bleu’s feelings, she wanted to stay friends and she didn’t want to be with Thorne either so, lots of tensions, lots of frustrations… I was glad when it was over! Sable was not a bad heroine, she was sweet with Thorne, she didn’t want to hurt him but she annoyed me because she was stubborn and childish sometimes, I actually really liked her toward the end when she made up her mind about Thorne.

The romance, the relationship was great, despite the love triangle and Sable’s childish moments. Thorne made it perfect. Like I said, Thorne was so patient with Sable, he was super jealous of Bleu which is understandable since Sable was his mate but he never forced himself on Sable, he never did anything to push her, he was just patient, sweet, tender! Sable was good with him as well, I can’t say she wasn’t. She encouraged him, she made him feel strong, she was supportive and caring. I loved them together, the sex scenes were hawt and let me tell you something: Thorne may have been a virgin but he was no idiot, holy moly! And yes, I loved that Sable never judged him either.

The plot was awesome, intriguing, lots of action, lots of suspense and the battle at the end was epic! What I love with Felicity is that even if the main plot is over with each book, there is always another opening. For example, here it’s Loren’s brother, Vail. I can’t wait to read the next book and the next one after that! With all the secondary characters, Felicity has many options for the next stories!

Hell Never Looked So Good

Felicity Heaton has only been on my reading radar for all of a nano second, but nonetheless, she is quickly creeping her way to the top of the ladder, finding her place on my Favourite Paranormal Romance Writers Of All Time list. That's quite a statement to make after only two books, but so far, she hasn't put a foot wrong for me.

I think a lot of it comes down to my personal feeling about a certain type of Alpha male. This is a tricky area, which can either make or break my enjoyment of a PNR. I would say if you're a fan of Kresley Cole's heroes, who are very male, controlled by slightly Neanderthallic instincts of protectiveness and "claiming", but are ultimately good people, who love their fated ones beyond all others and all reason, then you'll enjoy Heaton's style too.

You may recall the heroine, Sable, as the BFF of Olivia from book one. Although she's her opposite in almost every way; hard where Olivia is soft, fearless, strong, and a total badass. You know, for a human, anyway. She finds herself the object of not one immortal warrior's affection in Claimed by a Demon King, but two! However, only one is serious about making her his for eternity, and that's King Thorne.

Do you remember Thorne from book one? He appeared in his slightly scary demonic form at the Archangel lab (I think that was where it was) and had a very unnerving reaction to Sable. Of course, we now know that reaction was him recognizing his fated one. I just loved how Thorne tried to give Sable as long as demonically possible to come to terms with the fact that she was his. Not only that, he did everything to make her stay at his home more enjoyable. Trying to make her "hung over" food after she indulged too much on demon spirits from Hell. Quite literally. He was the most adorable demon and a beautiful man. And a virgin to boot! *dies of hormones*

Sable was amazing too. She coped admirably with all the changes despite her reticence, and was a formidable ally for Thorne. There was also more to her supernatural ability to sense danger, which was a very interesting twist that also had the benefit of introducing us to new characters and broadening the scope of the worldbuilding even further.

Do you know who kind of annoyed me in this one? Olivia! And I loved her in her own book!. But she was doing that thing where they know they're the weak link and need protecting, but insist on going with their mate to every dangerous situation, and pouting when they say "not a chance"! Ack!

Oh well. As you can see, that wasn't nearly enough to dull my enjoyment, and it's another five star rating for book two of the Eternal Mates series. Bring on the next!

Oh. My. God. Virgin hero AND he's slightly barbaric in the fact the demons are basically living in the medieval ages with castles and barely any electricity. I just died and went to heaven... Or hell, but it was my heaven for sure. I love the concept of these, the character development and creature/lore development and building. I can picture everything in my had, and the idea of knowing your demon mate because you have a sexy dream when you sleep at the same time after meeting? Too hot. Oh god was it hot. I just fell in fucking love and I just want to read all these books but they're set reads for certain months this year and I'm practically dying here and I know for a fact I won't stick to it and will once again have to change it all. I shall just keep the main one and have that as the last released book, because GOD do I want to read some of the books here after seeing who the male leads are that we've met. And really, I wanted Vail's story the moment I saw him, so I'll probably be reading that tomorrow knowing me. I shall have to give my fiancé my kindle so I spend time with my family for the weekend instead. Oh god, I'm dying on the inside already. Also just found out this is a fucking spin off or sister series connected to that crazy ass vampire snow that they met here. There goes my promise to myself of not adding anymore books to my tbr. Fucking hell.

I went into this book with a negative attitude ( I know bad Megan!) But I was not a huge fan of Sable in the last book but I am girl crushing on her for reals now. Also Thorn was freaking adorable. I love it when the hero doesn't know certain things.. like him trying to make human food for Sable when she was hung over. He had my heart right then and he will have it forever. Also how sweet he was. He jumped to the mortal world to get her coffee! OHHHH and when some skanky human throws herself at him he completely shuts it down. Whoo!!! Yay Thorn!

The whole book was action, adorable demon Thorn and Sable just being a badass. I loved this book!!
