Truly an epic. I’m surprised at myself for liking a book I thought was “an old lady book and movie.” Along with Harry Potter and East of Eden, this is a book I can see myself rereading.

[b:Gone With the Wind|18405|Gone With The Wind|Margaret Mitchell|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1166913011s/18405.jpg|3358283] is one of the few of my favorite books that I can say is also a favorite movie. Another excellent example of historical fiction, I've always been fascinated with the Civil War and I think this draws a brilliant picture of that time period, and gives a love story that will never be forgotten. A classic must read.

Yes, the sentiments toward and generalized representation of African Americans are ABSOLUTELY problematic, and is a sign of the times. However, Gone With The Wind is a pillar in the American literature canon, comprised of one of the strongest, most authentic heroines of all time. And this massive tome withstands the test of time as a thoroughly entertaining tale. (Admittedly with cringey aspects such as the glorification of the KKK.)
