As the first book of a lengthy series, Gild is meant to introduce you to characters and the world in which they navigate. Raven did an amazing job at this aspect but it meant the book was paced slowly and I found myself having to push myself to get through parts of it (hence the 3 star). Things started picking up at the end and left me feeling like the next book would definitely pick up. I devoured the next two books so the slow-paced first was definitely worth it!

The book, and the entire series, cover some sensitive topics that might not be for everyone so make sure you check the TW/CWs.

DNF'd. I'm ok with extremely dark content, but this story and characters weren't even interesting.

A good start to a series. Nothing extra special though. I like the main character but noone else. I’ll start the next book right now.

Slow start. But it is just setting up the rest of the books. Picked up a bit towards the end.
