Very, very, extremely short (as in only 12 pages) but the poetry is soft and sad with a nostalgic undertone that leaves for a strange kind of heartache that echoes in pain and longing.

I needed to lie down after reading an early draft of this chapbook, so you can imagine how I felt after reading the final draft. The collection's tightly controlled language houses a powerful amount of unguarded emotion (and in only ten pages). Ruby is a poetic force.

I lost my mother less than a week ago so reading this was really hard for me. Brunton's language is so beautiful and emotional that it really felt like a bit of a cathartic experience. I'll be coming back to this one.
