Wow. I loved this book for all the wrong reasons.
I went into this blind and it’s a good thing I did. However, I’d recommend you check the trigger warnings before reading.

Absolutely loved this and devoured it in one sitting. The writing is descriptive and impactful, both the timelines are equally entertaining. This book is heartbreaking, themes of addiction, codependency, abusive relationships. I was rooting for Mia the whole way, and her relationship with her mother was like watching a train wreck and you just can’t look away. My only complaint is that I didn’t enjoy Jade’s character, but I did like what her character brought to Mia’s storyline. I love vampires, and this novel had such a fresh take on it. I can’t wait to read the sequel and see what else the author writes.

Had I known this was a vampire book I probably wouldn't have gotten it. But sometimes I just see a NEW book at the library, scan it and see it's pretty well rated, so I grab it. That said, the book I grabbed was book 2 in a series so of course I had to start with the first... And it turned out to be better than I thought! It's not totally my thing, but I'll continue with the second one...
