The story was very interesting, but I found the author’s writing style hard to read. It’s as if they let loose and automated thesaurus on the manuscript, which replaced every 10th word with something more erudite. This did not contribute anything to the story, and just made it more difficult to read.

Second time I've read this, even more enjoyable having read the prequels now too.

Infuriating prose and really confusing pacing and character development that only kept me around because of interesting worldbuilding and the fact that I was reading it at work.

This was a weird one. The story was interesting, but the authors uses SAT words constantly, to the point of distraction. The book didn't know if it was a romantic suspense, science fiction, murder mystery, or all of the above. Towards the end I looked up the author and found some troubling accusations, not sure what to make of those.

I enjoyed the story and the setting very much, but there's some really unskilled head-hopping going on between the two main characters that I found detracts from that enjoyment. I still recommend the book for all its other qualities.
