I do love Handle with Care from Miss Croft. So when her other book, Blackmailed by Italian Billionaire shows up on my audio book list, I have high expectation on this book. But unfortunately, I do not like Blackmailed by Italian Billionaire. The story reminds me of Pretty Woman. Richard Gere keep flashing on my imagination although I know Richard Gere is not Italian.

What does not works for me:
1. The story. The promising story of crime underworld does not highlighted on this book. Instead the story is more focus on the steamy romance between Luc and Olivia.
2. The character, especially Olivia is also disappointing. She is stupid and needy heroine. She is so naive and weak. I do like damsel in distress but Olivia is just annoying.
3. The twist and plot is so weak and almost non existence. Its so boring actually.

Again I am disappointed with this book.

I listen to the audiobook version. And I COULDN'T STOP listening. Yes, the romance seemed to happen fast but the conflict was there and it kept me, "wanting more."

This was an addicting read. I couldn't put it down, and would have finished it in one sitting if real life hadn't kept reminding me I had other things to do - like feed the dog. While it didn't bring anything new to the table, it used tried and true tropes to their best advantage. Very engaging characters helped make this escapist reading at its best.

Link to full review below! Overall, enjoyable, even though there were times I did NOT like Luc. You understand the why behind his actions later so it makes more sense. See full review on The Book Disciple

4.5 stars (very good to excellent) Well paced story with great character development and a premise that works well to provide the reader with reason to invest in the characters. Well written in a way that gets the reader emotionally invested in the characters and has them rooting for the romance to work. The precipitating event comes out of left field and feels forced as there is not a good enough background for it. Also seems like an unlikely sequence of events. No further detail to avoid spoilers. Highly recommend
