Loved the mystery and the serial killer angle, the chapters set in the Monastery were so well done and interesting.
If only the story had stayed with that.
I think we were supposed to find the protagonist charming or quirky or something, going by the way every single woman - including his daughter - was introduced tits first and by what effect they had on his dick. Apparently all famous FBI profilers ever think about is booze, booze, sex and booze, spending very little time on their actual cases.
The whole thing read like it was written by a hor...monal teenager, it wouldn't even be half a star without the interesting angle of the Writers and the monastery.
Give it a miss, the rest of the crap you have to wade through isn't worth it.

If you can get over the misogyny the story is ok

It's a pretty curious story and an interesting idea. The writing might not be out of this world, but it reads OK and fast.
