" I don't need the words. I just need you."

I really enjoyed this story from start to finish. Chloe and Nathan are adorable together and all supporting characters were on point.
I'm so happy we getting more books in smart jocks series I hope next are Sydney and Shaw.

Okay, first of all...for four books we've gotten to know Wes, Joel, Zeke, and Nathan. This book was bittersweet with all four now graduated and headed off into their future endeavors. Rebecca really did a fantastic job with all four novels and the ending of this Smart Jock era. (I'm so sad, but happy all at the same time.)

Now...Chloe was the perfect match for Nathan. At the moments when he felt unworthy she had the amazing ability to make him feel like a prince, yet as he always compared himself to a pauper, she was the prince who rescued him from his worst self.

I'll explain...

Even before Nathan moved into the White House to live with the men who would be not only his best friends, but would change his life forever, he never felt like he was worth much. His father died before he came to school, his mother lost her job, and his younger brother was left home to basically fed for himself. Nathan didn't make the best choices to help his family scrape by, but he made them nonetheless. Living his life always looking in, that was how he met Chloe.

Chloe is a transfer in to Valley U her senior year. Trying to leave a scandal behind from her prior university she's wanting to start over, but her teammates make it difficult when they all seem to hate her. After a one night stand and Nathan wakes up in her dorm, she introduces him as her boyfriend and the snowball only gets bigger as the lie grows, but when her teammates seem to like her more because of his association she's hesitant to correct it.

Nathan would really like to date Chloe for real, but she insists on keeping their "relationship" fake. Honestly he'll take just about any reason to be around her, she makes him want to be a better man, but the more time they spend together the more he wants the real deal. He's afraid she'll leave their arrangement and he not only likes himself since knowing her, he just likes her.

I'm going to miss these guys. The comradery, sportsmanship, learning, love, friendship, basically everything that was wrapped up in the Smart Jocks novels. The good news is Rebecca did promise a new generation of jocks will be coming and I'm soooooo looking forward to more great stories!!

The Fake
Smart Jocks, Book 4
By: Rebecca Jenshak
Narrated by: Jason Clarke, Ava

Smart Jocks is one of my favorite sports romance series. Rebecca Jenshak has an intuitiveness to this college age that is refreshing and realistic, yet lets me escape as I listen to the story. This one is Nathan and Chloe. Nathan is a college basketball star, well known on campus. Chloe is a volleyball player, just transferred and with her history is having a problem fitting in. And how does she make her first attempt? She claims Nathan to be her boyfriend. And now the fun begins with her fake boyfriend. There is a lot of emotional baggage on both sides of this fake relationship, and Jenshak knows just how to pull at my heart strings and make me root for their happiness. It's definitely a book that relates to today's college experience, from acceptance in, finding friends and trying to figure out where life is supposed to go. I love Nathan and Chloe, each seeming so real. They are a great way to end this amazing series.

Narration by Jason Clarke and Ava Erickson just enhance the story. They are an amazing team, really compliment each other and find a way to make the characters their own. Clarke is the perfect, sexy jock, with his warm voice and vulnerable sound. Erickson has a voice that exudes that new adult sound, finds the emotional side and comes out as Chloe. I loved their portrayal of the story.

4 You Can't Fake These Real Feelings Stars!!

2 people one main goal.. make it through senior year. I wasn’t sure how I would feel about Nathan, you didn’t really get to see him a lot until book three and even then, it was kind of a glimpse here or there. He’s a keeper as a friend or a family man. Once he is invested in you, he will back you up no matter the consequences. He was dealt a crappy hand and I wasn’t sure what he was completely into in book 3 but man when it all spills out in this book you just want to make it all go away. I wish he would’ve asked his friends for help sooner, or even the coach. I kind of hope we get to see more of his brother in future books because that dynamic was super sweet and adorable. The platonic friendship he has between himself and Gabby is really sweet and I’m here for it.

Chloe doesn’t think she deserves a second chance even though the events leading up to her being at Valley aren’t her fault. I love that she didn’t flaunt her wealth and she was amazingly down to earth, she always wanted to do things for other people. She worked hard for the little respect she got. She was definitely a good fit for Nathan and it shows. I wish we would’ve gotten more time with her BFF back home but that’s okay I see why we didn’t

I loved this book!! Love, love, love!! I've wanted this story for what feels like forever. Nathan had been the most mysterious throughout the series. So, I was thrilled to finally have his story.

The Fake is a sweet, fake-dating, sports romance with amazing character chemistry and fun, flirty banter. I was so pleased to see that the story also had more of an emotional kick to it.

I am so obsessed with Chloe and Nathan as a couple. They're from very different worlds yet they connected on a deeper level. The genuine care they had for one another and everything they were willing to do just melted my heart.

Nathan has taken the top spot for favorite "Smart Jock hero". I am so gone for him. GONE! Yes, he's not perfect. He's made a bunch of dumb mistakes and carries a world of guilt and responsibilities on his shoulders. However, everything he's done, he's did for the sake of others. I just love him so much.

I fell hard and fast for this series and these characters. So I'm a bit heartbroken that The Fake is the final book. The good news is Rebecca Jenshak closed out this series on a high note. I loved every happily ever after these guys got. *dreamy sigh*

If you want a really good sports, new adult romance, I highly recommend this one or any of the books in the series.

It was at this point when I realized I read Rebecca Jenshak’s series’ in a non-chronological order and this one features Heath’s older brother. I understood more of the references made in Secret Puck once I put that together.

This one wasn't my favourite. It definitely lacked in areas, and the characters just weren't hitting the mark. The story was cheesy as always and hit the mark for an NA romance, but it was missing something more.

It starts as a one night stand turned fake dating to friends to lovers.

Chloe initially offered to pay Nathan to date her so that she looks good in front of her new volleyball team after they've had their one night stand. Nathan accepts the offer because he needs money so that he can help his brother with Ice Hockey and not fall back into selling drugs.

I liked Nathan's character. He was very endearing and charismatic. It was easy to like Nathan and the feel for him with the struggles he's gone through. I wanted to feel the same way about Chloe, but she had a few times where she showed her spoilt ways, which wasn't a surprise since she came from such a privileged background. Chloe wasn't a heroine I could wamr towards, and it could have been because of the multiple, unreasonable excuses she came up with to not be with Nathan in a proper relationship. They weren't needed, and when she did decide, there wasn't much explanation or detail as to why she changed her mind.

I definitely wanted to see more character development because it was just scratching the surface. The first half of the book dragged, but the second half picked up a lot more. I love the series and the side characters, so I'll be reading the next couples book in the series.

okay i really love them together. this is literally the first couple that started with sex which is crazy. also i really liked how they never broke up and they liked each other from the beginning. them getting engaged is so sweet and i love seeing all the other couples.
as i read: chloe’s roommates suck and i feel so bad for her. i understand why she’s upset but it’s still so annoying like i just want them together. him using his project to tell her he loved her is so cute.
